  • Sune Borg
  • Mads Peder Friis Jensen
  • Søren Friis
  • Jacob Jensen
  • Uffe Kongsted

René Asmussen: From Esbjerg to the USA – A Rising Star in Fine Art Photography

“René Asmussen, an accomplished photographer from Esbjerg, Denmark, has recently made waves in the international art scene. Known for his unique “Layer on Layer” technique, René has quickly risen to prominence in Danish fine art photography, despite only taking up the craft four years ago. His talent was recently recognized when he won gold and bronze in a major competition organized by the Danish Photographic Society, competing against over 2,000 entries in the slide and black-and-white categories.

René’s work has not only gained acclaim in Denmark but also attracted international attention. From December 1st to January 31st, René Asmussen will be exhibiting his photographs at a prestigious gallery in New York as part of the “Fine Art Exhibition.” This opportunity arose after his work was discovered by gallery owner Helen Davenport on a Swedish website where René consistently ranks in the top 10 with several of his pieces. His work is also regularly showcased in online photography competitions via his website, www.reneasmussen.com.

René Asmussen’s journey into photography began with the realization that his talents lay more in capturing images than in traditional painting. Initially collaborating with his friend, the artist H.C. Hauge-Rasmussen, René quickly transitioned to photography, where he found his true calling. His distinctive style, which involves layering multiple images to create a single, cohesive artwork, has become his signature approach. This technique will also be featured in an upcoming series on Esbjerg, focusing on significant local landmarks like the Memorial Park for Fallen Soldiers and Esbjerg Harbor.

René’s ability to capture the essence of his subjects, combined with his innovative techniques, has positioned him as a leading figure in Danish photography, and his upcoming exhibition in New York is a testament to his growing influence in the art world.”
